SUMMARY:Shavuot
DESCRIPTION:A Day of Covenants and Power\n\nAs the days of counting the Omer roll on\, we are more than halfway to the feast of Shavuot\, the second of three annual pilgrimage festivals commanded by God. This is the day on which Yahweh often affirms covenants with displays of supernatural power.\nYou shall count for yourselves seven weeks. From the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain you shall begin to count seven weeks. You shall keep the feast of weeks to Yahweh your God with a tribute of a freewill offering of your hand\, which you shall give\, according as Yahweh your God blesses you. You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God: you\, your son\, your daughter\, your male servant\, your female servant\, the Levite who is within your gates\, the foreigner\, the fatherless\, and the widow\, who are among you\, in the place which Yahweh your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there. You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt. You shall observe and do these statutes.\n(Deuteronomy 16:9-12)\n\n\n\nThis year\, Shavuot (a.k.a. Pentecost) will happen on the second Sunday of June. That’s June 8th.\n\n\n\nThat day\, we’ll be holding a holy convocation from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. It’s a wheat- and dairy-themed party\, and there will be plenty of good food to enjoy.\n\n\n\nSince we have to order and make food for this gathering\, it’s important to get a head count. Would you please take a couple of minutes right now to RSVP? Simply reply to this email with # of adults and # of kids.\n\n\n\nShavuot service will be held in the Family Life Center at St. Philip’s UMC (it’s the largest building on campus).\n\n\n\nPS: The recommended donation is $20+ per person\, but if you can’t manage that\, don’t sweat it. Come anyway\, please. The address is\n\n\n16321 Great Oaks Dr\, Round Rock\, TX 78681 in the Family Life Center of St. Philips United Methodist Church.\n\n\n\nElectronic Giving\n\n\nMonetary offerings can be given in the form of cash or check during services\, but it’s also easy to give electronically. To do so\, click the button below.\n\n\n\nDonate\nOr send funds to https://donorbox.org/doyc_offerings on your mobile phone.\n\n\nAll donations are tax-deductible.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSend message\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee insights and ads \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBoost post\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll reactions:\n1DOYC: Disciples of Yeshua Congregation

SUMMARY:Shavuot (a.k.a.) Pentecost
DESCRIPTION:Last but not least is the feast of the firstfruits of the wheat harvest. Falling 50 days after the firstfruits of barley (i.e. the day following 7 weeks of “counting the Omer”)\, this appointed time is a high Sabbath\, but with the twist that we can prepare food for the feast. Shavuot is the day of covenants – an amazing day when God has repeatedly made permanent\, binding agreements with his people throughout history. SUMMARY:BAPTISMS (MIKVEH)
DESCRIPTION:After lunch\, we will change into appropriate clothing and go (shoes/sandtals) into the San Gabriel River. Then we will head to Chandler Park in Georgetown. Why\, might you ask? To immerse! During Temple times\, Israelites who went to worship there would first ritually immerse (mikvah) in pools of living water (from the Gihon River). This wa an outward action meant to signify an inward change of state. Since we no longer go into the Temple\, we like to perform immersions before the Spring and Fall Mo’ediym as a way of reminding and preparing ourselves. If you’ve never undergone immersion in the name of Yeshua as a public confession of dying to your old life and being raised to new life in Messiah\, this Shabbat would be a great time for it!

SUMMARY:Shavuot (Pentecost)
DESCRIPTION:It’s a feast! We will be breaking bread together at 1:30\, then engaging in worship centered around the themes of covenant and spiritual empowerment. Lunch and desert will be provided (suggested donation is $20/person). \nWe will meet in the large activity center on the St. Philip’s UMC campus (as opposed to our usual spot in the smaller administrative building). Childcare will be provided for kids up to 10 years old.
