DOYC observes the waxing crescent moon at the beginning of each season (i.e., the first, fourth, seventh, and tenth months of each year). In modern astronomy, a “new moon” is a completely dark moon, but, biblically speaking, the new moon is a barely-visible crescent moon that occurs on the heels of a dark moon.
Our new moon services are generally held outside and involve food, fun, and good midrash!
Please contact the elders to find out the meeting location.
