After lunch, we will change into appropriate clothing and go (shoes/sandtals) into the San Gabriel River. Then we will head to Chandler Park in Georgetown. Why, might you ask? To immerse! During Temple times, Israelites who went to worship there would first ritually immerse (mikvah) in pools of living water (from the Gihon River). This wa an outward action meant to signify an inward change of state. Since we no longer go into the Temple, we like to perform immersions before the Spring and Fall Mo’ediym as a way of reminding and preparing ourselves. If you’ve never undergone immersion in the name of Yeshua as a public confession of dying to your old life and being raised to new life in Messiah, this Shabbat would be a great time for it!
